A 45-minute class that introduces our tiniest dancers to the basics of dance in a fun and exciting way.
The area's dance studio for twenty-five years. Ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and tap — taught in a safe, non-judgmental studio that grows with your dancer from age two-and-a-half into their teens and beyond.
Age ranges are approximate — classes are geared to challenge dancers as a whole group. Below is a quick tour; full placement is at the teacher's discretion after the first few weeks.

The Honesdale Dance Studio was founded in 2000 by owner, teacher, and director Joann Florance. Over the last 25 years we have grown not only in the number of students but also in the classes we offer and the quality of learning we're able to give.
We pride ourselves in staying up to date on the most recent styles and techniques — while keeping the warm, small-town feel that makes Honesdale what it is.
"Our mission is to provide students with an atmosphere that lends itself to learning in a safe, non-judgmental, and technically accurate way — so as to foster the most growth of each dancer."
Every child has something wonderful to offer and express. Whether your dancer is here for recreation or dreaming of a professional career, we'll help them get there with confidence.
Both of our lead teachers studied under some of the most respected names in American dance — and bring that lineage to every class at 811 Main Street.
Born and raised in New York, Joann had the opportunity to study under many diverse teachers as a budding artist — among them Phil Black, Frank Hatchet, Sheila Barker, Chio, Kat Wildish, and Finis Jhung. She taught in New York for five years before opening her own studio here in Honesdale, and has choreographed productions at Honesdale High School and Wayne Highlands Middle School including Oklahoma, Footloose, Pirates of Penzance, and Willy Wonka.
Jesse is a DeSales University graduate with a BA in Dance. She has studied with Trinette Singleton, Beatriz Rodriguez, Kristin Degnan-Boonin, Diane Orio, Lynne Mariani, Timothy Cowart, Tara Madsen-Roberts, and others. In 2012 she was one of nine dancers hand-chosen by Charthel Arthur of the Arpino Foundation to perform the Joffrey Ballet's Vivaldi at the premiere of Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance. Her youth training included Broadway Dance Center, the American Academy of Ballet, and Joffrey Texas.
All classes subject to change based on enrollment. Level placement is at the teacher's discretion. Reach out for the current 2025–2026 schedule and we'll send it over.
From first pliés at age three to pointe shoes at thirteen — a few glimpses from our studio and our dancers out in the world.

A dress code is part of safe learning. Students arrive on time and ready for class, in the proper attire — by discipline:
Not permitted: jeans, jeggings, skorts, baggy clothing, sports uniforms, excessively short shorts, large skirts, tutus, or costumes during class.
Each spring our dancers take the stage. Performance Group shows, senior solos, and the season-end recital bring the whole community together.
An evening of choreographed pieces from our invitational Performance Group alongside senior solo showcases. Ask for current dates & ticket info.
The big one. Every class and every level on one stage, featuring both Joann Florance and Jesse Perry's choreography.
Spots in each class fill up, but we keep a waitlist and do our best to place every dancer. Call, email, or drop by the studio on Main Street — whichever's easiest.
